Gabrielle Painter

The violinist Gabrielle Painter has performed throughout Europe, Canada and the United States as soloist, chamber music player and orchestral leader.  Her recent concerto engagements include performances of Szymanowski's First Violin Concerto and Lou Harrison's Violin Concerto in New York and a performance of the Triple Concerto by Beethoven in Germany, recorded for German National Radio.  As a chamber musician she has performed for numerous organizations, including the Cathedral of Saint John the Divine Chamber Music Series (NY), the Banff Centre for the Arts (Canada), the Miller Theatre (NY) and the Leeds International Concert Series (UK).  She has performed many works written for her, and she is a founding member of the New York based furious band, who have premiered works of many composers and have recorded for CRI and New World Records.  Gabrielle holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she studied with Diana Cummings, and a Master of Music degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook where she will also receive her Doctorate of Musical Arts Degree in December.  At Stony Brook she was a scholarship student of and Teaching Assistant to Mitchell Stern who sadly passed away this year.  Gabrielle is the winner of the 2001 Montgomery Violin Competition (United States).
