ABOUT
THE FESTIVAL
Welcome
to our website!
The
London Festival of Chamber Music, founded in 1995 by Luciano
Iorio, violist of the English String Quartet, aims to make
chamber music accessible to a wider audience, with performances of
the highest standard at local venues,
stimulating programmes,
informative and friendly presentation and affordable tickets.
Every
year the four weeks long Festival gives sixteen concerts
in
four venues, with four programmes performed in each venue. The
performers are among the finest musicians in London: the members
of the internationally renowned English
String Quartet are
‘artists in residence’, and they are joined by other eminent
musicians according to the requirements of the programmes. The
programmes include not only music from the most well-known
chamber music repertoire but also very attractive rarities.
The
Festival’s educational programme is taken every
year
to local primary schools, aiming at stimulating and inspiring school
children and nurturing tomorrow's audience. We also offer free
tickets to local primary and secondary schools.
